SK-II approached MAAD to create a virtual counter selling experience, effectively taking the counter consultant into your home. Aimed primarily at new users of SK-II to help identify a three step regime unique to them and their skin.

The Flash piece had to be fully dynamic in both the content and products it recommends, and seamlessly plug into e-retailing websites.

After spending numerous hours talking to SK-II consultants we discovered that certain skin symptoms outweighed others when they are

MAAD worked closely with SK-II's scientists to re-create the aging characteristics of a human face into a virtual one. The next step was to allow the user the ability to alter the severity of these characteristics, for example, lines and wrinkles.

However, this gave some surprising results and made the aging process look unnatural as a person does just not age through lines and wrinkles alone, by weighting the characteristics together allows the user the flexibility to match their 'aging' characteristics on the virtual face whilst still retaining a natural look.

The final piece of the puzzle was to get the computer to interpret the adjusted face and recommend the correct products to the user, this proved somewhat more

difficult than expected and turned out to be around 1000 lines of code and our lead flash programmer looking 10 years older at the end of it.
